Automobile engineering is indeed a sub branch of mechanical engineering. Automobile engineering is an applied science that includes elements of Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering and Safety engineering as applied to the design, manufacture and operation of automobiles, buses and trucks and their respective engineering sub-systems.

As an automobile engineer you can work in automobile manufacturing industries, production plants, service stations, state road transport corporations, private transport companies, insurance companies, motor vehicle departments etc. You can also move in the field of designing with PG degree in automobile designing, or course in CAD (Computer Aided design), CAM (Automation), ERP, There are lot of MNC in this field - Hyundai, Tata MOTORS, Volkswagen, Volvo, Ashok Leyland, Telco ,Maruti e.t.c You will be part of team who will be a production team, designing, planning, testing, e.t.c in a given automobile company. You can also set up your automobile garage shop or maintenance workshop
